Generali Global Infrastructure has been named “Infrastructure Manager of the Year” at the 4th Annual Insurance Asset Management Awards*.

The category is looking for companies that really understand the complexities behind infrastructure as an asset class and have shown evidence across the year of working with insurance companies to help reap the potential rewards.

The judges were particularly impressed with Generali Global Infrastructure’s strong emphasis on assets that positively contribute to sustainable and inclusive development,  how it monitors ESG performance during the life of the asset and also how it uses proprietary ESG scorecards to assess potential investments.

Investing for positive impact on the European recovery: new Generali Global Infrastructure funds

Infrastructure assets are considered key in re-shaping a sustainable and resilient recovery path for Europe together with a greener, more digital and people-centered world. To support this transformational shift, Generali Global Infrastructure (GGI) has launched two infrastructure recovery funds, investing for positive impact on the European recovery:

  • one will focus on Green Mobility, Environment & Energy Transition
  • one will focus on Social Infrastructure and Digital Transition

The funds aim to support the recovery of European economies from the adverse impacts of Covid-19, through resilient and sustainable investments in infrastructure and offer a flexible allocation to debt and equity compartments.

The GGI investment team – with a strong expertise in the global infrastructure debt industry – will select investments in infrastructure it considers having distinctive capacity to contribute to the recovery of European economies, looking at both brownfield and greenfield assets with strong ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and sustainability characteristics.

“Infrastructure will be a major theme for investors looking for resilient investments, providing valuable yield where rates are expected to remain low and weaker credits to suffer from a flight to quality."

Philippe Benaroya
CEO of Generali Global Infrastructure

The targeted geographies and sectors offer a very large range of investment opportunities, allowing GGI to build diversified portfolios and be highly selective to generate, according to GGI opinion and own discretion, the best performing investments from financial and extra-financial points of view.
